‘My family had been caring for my Mam at home but when her Alzheimer’s condition deteriorated to the point that she needed professional care we had to resign to moving her to a Nursing Home. Mam had become extremely distressed in any hospital situation so when her mobility was reduced overnight with no apparent reason there seemed no option but a visit to A & E for an X-ray. We knew that this would be horrendous for Mam. Not only would we have had extreme difficulty transporting her to a hospital but lengthy hours there, especially with her condition, would have been absolute torture for her.

After searching the internet we thankfully found the Mobile Medical Diagnostic site. The Nursing Home and Mam’s Doctor had never used this service before but thankfully they co-operated with our wishes. I can’t thank Mary enough for being courageous enough to start this service. Both herself and her Radiographer arrived at the Nursing Home extremely punctual and were able to take the X-rays as Mam lay comfortably in bed. They were so professional and were in and out of the Nursing Home with the task done in minutes. The results were sent to Mam’s Doctor that same afternoon. All my family are so grateful. We can’t recommend Mary and her team enough. An essential and amazing service. Continued success Mary!’

I can speak personally to the benefit of this service having contacted Mary a few weeks ago for one of my residents who needed an x-ray but for whom a trip to ED would have been a major disruption and logistical nightmare for her and her family. Mary and her team put the patient at the centre of their service and literally move heaven, earth and a very advanced x-ray machine for their patients. Couldn’t recommend highly enough. Private insurers should certainly be covering this.

“Smooth, efficient, timely service. Person-centred by nature. Furthermore, their staff are very pleasant and respectful towards the residents who have used the service. Using the service prevented the need to transport and escort frail residents to hospital, dramatically reducing the disruption and discomfort to these residents.

To date, it has been a same day service, with reports being available promptly following the x-ray. We have been delighted with the whole service and are very happy to recommend it.”

“I have required the services of Mobile Medical Diagnostics on numerous occasions. I found Mary to be very approachable and helpful, the service provided was exceptional and the fact that the X Ray could be done at the bedside without causing distress to the resident was invaluable. The fact that the residents did not have to be transferred to hospital was also a huge bonus, the quality of the X Ray and the speed in getting the report were excellent. This is a much-needed service to the Nursing Home Industry as it could help prevent unnecessary trips to hospital for elderly and infirm people. While at present it incurs a charge, both the residents and the families were happy to pay this so as to ensure quality care and no disruption. I would like to see this service being provided by the Insurance companies and the HSE as I feel that it would ultimately be a cost saving measure whilst ensuring quality care for our older and infirm population.”

Ann Marie Woods – Director of Nursing | Newtownpark House Nursing Home, Newtownpark Avenue, Blackrock, Co. Dublin

“I have used mobile medical diagnostics on a number of occasions. Our facility looks after residents living with Dementia and this is a wonderful service. They come straight to our facility and perform the x-ray in the comfort of the resident’s bedroom avoiding lengthy queues in A&E departments which can be particularly upsetting and confusing for people living with dementia. The service is very efficient and speedy and Kate the radiographer has a really nice manner with our residents.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Mobile Medical Diagnostics.”

Elaine Murray Director of Nursing – Nursing Home Service | Highfield Healthcare, Swords Road, Dublin 9

“I have used Mobile Medical Diagnostics for several of my patients in the long term and intermediate care settings. Access to quality radiological diagnostics in these settings is a Godsend. It significantly reduces patient, family and staff stress, obviating as it does the need to travel to a hospital, spend time registering, queuing for the x-ray and then waiting for transport back to the care setting. In addition by bringing the diagnostics to the patient, there is no need for costly transportation or any requirement to pull staff from ward duty to accompany the patient to hospital.

It is a worthwhile, high quality service, efficiently delivered.”
